I've been waiting so long for a page turner that I can't put down and my prayers have been answered! This book is absolutley brill! Every chapter finished leaves you wanting to read more! Charlie is an adorably feisty heroine and the characters she encounters are dripping rich with personality! Alexander has managed to keep an even balance between real life and fantasy that you forget it's all fiction! I can't wait till the next novel(or a sequel perhaps?)

For a debut novelist this is really strong book. When I started to read I wondered if it was perhaps going to be a bit derivative, but it took all of 40 pages for that notion to be dispelled. Charlie is a wonderful heroine - full of character, wholly likeable, but not too perfect and the scenes throughout the book are well drawn out with a great supporting cast. Who is Charlie Keeper takes you on a great journey - from drama to humour - from excitement to emotion, and keeps your interest the whole way through. The author is clearly a great talent with a huge potential - I'm pleased to be reading his first work before he becomes famous - it surely can't be too long before he does.

Okay so its a female hero, which for me makes a change but to be honest she's just too cool! Big mouth, big attitude(and likeable) but nevertheless very believable. Charlie Keeper overcomes terrible odds and countless, betrayals in a realistic way and really comes to grips with the term 'revenge' in a way that Harry never did. (The magic in this book is more believable too and less condescending than that found in other books of this genre.) A hero to root for and badass with it too!!

She is super cool, funny and very mischieveous but you cant help but love her! I got a copy of this book for my little brother (11 years old)and not only did he love it, but he was constantly talking about the characters in it. I have also read the book myself, and loved it. It's an action packed page turner. I'd recommend it to both children and those, who are a little older who have an imagination!!!!!!!!!
